I wish to say I'm deeply sorry if things changing back and forward with the room. Such as the rules, guidelines and stuff.
This is because I have actually come to the point to get things set, get a wholeness and not so defrag.
Ye all know my vision of the room was to set up a Folk Lore / fa'ae Lore / history room. Not an average fantasy room, with all what that means. I wanted to bring out a more historical role-play where Folk Lore was the main part.
The idea was then to connect the room to thus History based rooms. To give them an actually Folk tale into their rpg. As ye seen there is rooms that mention about that their areas are old and where 'fa'ae' was said to be about.
This rooms doesn't use magic / mystical creature etc as fantasy. In thus rooms is more strange things, something one can meet but not really explain. But I wanted to give them the possiblity to actually have that instead of just mention it on the intro page or in their posts of rpg.
At CC that was a good start, but kind of got defrag. All of the sudden the room was more of a general fantasy room. Which kinda made me for a moment lost interest to continue.
Now as we moved with Qris and medi to be part of PoD, I actually got it to be what I wanted. We are presented as a History room. This gave me energy and with lots of help with Ssong text was finally written, rules even came about.
But still I have problem to formulate myself [I'm sorry really that I time to time not make sense] and get my thoughts into print, words that other understand me and what I trying to explain. That is my greatest flaw I guess.. then English on that haha dooomed.. so pleae forgive me that I been lazy to get all the text up and that they [well not thus that adorable Ssong has helped out with] are bit hard to understand or so.
Now as ye seen there has been some more clarifications and hopefully more easier to understand what Annwfn is about. I will put up text about magic works as we do not do any dnd and company design role-playing game system ideas of magic. Our magic is based on history, on Folk lore.
For example, humans will not throw fireballs down the street.. it just do not exist. But a druid will predict weather, a witch will put a curse or a shaman will speak with the spirits. If ye understand what I mean.
When it comes to fa'ae.. aye we do use magic, but keep in mind how it works. How does it appear in the Folk Lore?
For example a fa'ae [mind ye its out among humans] gets angry on a human. One day the human wakes up with illness that will drive him/er to death. The human will think of course either being cursed or that she/he has catches some bad illness. In fact it was the fa'ae that gave it. Or that he will not be able to do specific things, always get bad luck or so. Perhaps the cows milk always sour. Now the human might come to understand he/she need to please the fa'ae and then so does that. Which lead to illness gone, or whatever it has been.
Yes, this include that if a human meets a fa'ae in the forest. Say there is a fight or perhaps anger a fa'ae.. Frost will be able to create chill, frost, ice and whatnot.. because that fa'ae is of that nature cold, winter, frost. This is not strange because its in line with that fa'ae are nature spirits. To still use Frost as example.. if that fa'ae would be without a shape, he could sure just be the cold, the energy that freeze the water to ice and so on..
Now in Annwfn, within the Mist the is a different. There more strange things [from the view of a human] can accrue. Here it might be more so that magic appears in a more "fantasy" way.
Well that on magic.. which can be tricky.
We don't use a game company designed system.. like dnd, I have always trusted that players can manage to find away to keep it real to the theme of a role-play setting. Everyone can succeed and fail, its about make the tale believable and fun right?
I'm pondering over a system, something that will fit us and the room. ye are all welcome to come with ideas on that, so it will be easier to work something out later.
So just to wrap this huge post.. Remember this is Folk tale, not Tolkien and Hobbs and dnd or any other authors or game company design setting, and average fantasy. This room is to be conneted with a room that is Wales and a historical room. If things work great I will take away Wales from our PD.
Sincerely yours
